Phil Striegel, Ph.D.
Phil is a graduate of the University of Iowa Marriage and Family Therapy Program and has been practicing as an individual, marital, and family therapist in the Iowa City area for the past 20 years. He also serves as an adjunct assistant professor in Mount Mercy Marriage and Family Therapy Program and in the University of Iowa Couples and Family Therapy program.
Prior to practicing as a therapist, he taught and coached for 12 years at the high school level. At the University of Iowa, Phil published articles concerning the impact of pregnancy loss on marriages, and he studied the status of children with ADHD in classrooms. With 15 years of work in a medical private practice, he uses multiple approaches in his therapy with an appreciation for the biological aspects of human problems. Phil has advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a mode of therapy that is highly effective in addressing the behavioral, emotional, and cognitive symptoms that people bring to therapy.
