Joan Rinner, M.A.
Joan has worked for over 25 years in private practice and as an educator, counselor, and consultant for both the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who emphasizes mindfulness in her work with individuals, couples, and workgroups in many areas. Clients develop a non-judgmental way to observe themselves so that they can manage negative self-talk, and build healthy relationships. Her approach for couples and groups includes education and facilitation on various research-based tools to reduce conflict, increase communication, and promote effective ways of relating. Joan also uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, a personality assessment, to help individuals identify their unique strengths and to assist them in understanding others.
