Catherine Deming, M.A.

Catherine graduated from the University of Iowa Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Student Development with an emphasis on substance abuse counseling. While at UI, Catherine served as an Adjunct Instructor, teaching "Counseling for Related Professions." She also served as a teaching assistant, helping UI undergraduates with career development. Catherine is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with an eclectic approach to counseling, drawing on various therapeutic theories and techniques to meet the needs of her clients. For seven years, Catherine has worked primarily with adolescents through a grant program for at-risk youth. In addition, she has experience with pervasive developmental disorders, especially Asperger's Disorder. Prior to her work at UI, Catherine received a Master's degree in Pastoral Studies from St. Ambrose University and is open to clients' spirituality as a normal part of what they might bring to the counseling relationship.
